ATEN Introduces Four-Port Dual View HDMI Video Switch for Home Theater Installations

Taipei, Taiwan (January 19, 2012) – ATEN International, a leading designer and manufacturer of advanced connectivity solutions, today announced a new four-port HDMI-based video switch designed specifically for A/V installers and home theater enthusiasts. The VS482 Dual View HDMI switch supports four HDMI video input sources and two HDMI output displays. The VS482 offers a simple and cost-effective solution to add HDMI capabilities to a home theater system by allowing users to switch easily between up to four HDMI A/V sources that are connected to up to two HDMI displays.

According to a leading industry analysis firm, BCC Research, the global market for home theater technologies and services will be worth $2.9 billion, a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6.9 percent from $1.9 billion in 2006. The VS482 complies with HDMI standards, and is designed to support 3D content, as well as ATEN's exclusive Audio Return Channel (ARC) implementation technology. With this functionality, users can connect an HDMI cable to the ARC port to distribute audio from a source device to an audio/video receiver -  ;no additional audio cable is needed. The VS482 also offers instant switching and has OSD display controls for video, audio, system configuration and information.

"As more and more HDMI-based devices continue to proliferate within the widely popular home theater market, the need for simultaneous access to various HDMI A/V sources is becoming increasingly important," explained Kevin Chen, President of ATEN International. "Through our newest HDMI video switch, the VS482, we are pleased to offer customers new and exciting value-added features such as our exclusive ARC functionality. For both A/V installers and home theater enthusiasts alike, the VS482 offers an intuitive solution to bridge the gap between high-definition displays and HDMI-equipped sources such as Blu-ray players, game consoles and cable/satellite appliances."

When the VS482 is leveraged in conjunction with ATEN's VE810 HDMI Extender, the solution has even greater placement flexibility in a home theater. The VE810, which includes IR control functionality, supports long distance transmissions of up to 40 meters (1920x1080p and 1920x1200p) and 60 meters (1080i).

The VS482 offers the following key features and functionality:
• HDMI Support (3D, Audio Return Channel and Deep Color)
• OSD for system configuration setting and information display
• Instant switching between HDMI input sources via front panel push buttons or through RS-232 serial control port
• EDID Expert technology to set up different configurations via various EDID modes
• Allows users to view HDMI input source port/device for easy selection
• Superior video quality - up to 1920x1200 (WUXGA)
• Support for multi-channel audio (stereo/5.1/7.1)
• Rack-mountable

About KVM Switches-An Essential Server Management Device

A KVM (Keyboard, Video and Mouse) switch is an advanced, hardware-based solution that allows centralized access to multiple computers easily and conveniently from a single keyboard, monitor, and mouse. A KVM switch is useful in an extensive range of environments, suitable for SOHO users, small and medium businesses, and large corporations. Fundamentally, a KVM switch allows server rooms and data centers to optimize rack space in the IT environment, reducing costs and the clutter of keyboards, monitors and mice. Additional benefits include savings in energy consumption, server racks, cabinets, and floor space. Since a KVM switch provides access to a number of computers from a central location, IT professionals are no longer running from one server to the next, thereby streamlining workflow and increasing productivity. To meet the ever-developing needs of the globalized economy and the Internet, KVM solutions now have over-IP functionality for remote management capability that better fulfills the demands of corporations who need to manage multiple server rooms worldwide.
