Unlimited Access with ATEN Digital KVM Extension Solution

CE790 supports high quality digital audio and video streaming with no distance limitation over the intranet

Taipei, November 17, 2009 - ATEN International, a leading designer, manufacturer and distributor of advanced communication solutions, today introduces its first Digital KVM Extender. The CE790 is an IP-based KVM Extender with automatic cable detection (Auto-MDIX) and RS-232 serial functionality that allows access to a computer system from a remote USB console (USB keyboard, monitor, and USB mouse) anywhere on the intranet.

The CE790 system consists of a transmitter (CE790T) that connects to the computer system and a receiver (CE790R) that is located on a user’s desk. For even greater flexibility, any number of transmitters can be configured with any number of receivers, providing access and control of various computing resources from any number of remote consoles via a standard TCP/IP network. The CE790 system can be installed in point-to-point, point-to-multipoint, multipoint-to-point, and multipoint-to-multipoint configurations.

Both the transmitter and receiver units are assigned a unique IP address and connect via a single Cat 5e cable, making the CE790 Digital KVM Extender system perfect for use in any type of installation where multiple consoles in conveniently accessible locations are needed, such as control rooms, internet cafes, or computer-aided learning classrooms, or where a user wants the various system equipment to reside in environmentally-controlled and/or secure equipment rooms.

" Our new Digital KVM Extender enables users to manage the system efficiently and conveniently from a remote console located anywhere on the existing LAN environment. In contrast to an analog KVM extender, the CE790 Digital KVM Extender supports high quality digital audio and video streaming with no distance limitation and trailing smear." says Kevin Chen, President of ATEN International.

The CE790 Digital KVM Extender provides excellent image and sound quality. It supports high resolution video up to 1920 x 1080 and all widescreen formats. The CE790 also provides an intuitive OSD on both the transmitter and receiver units for easy setup and operation. In addition, the RS-232 serial ports allow users to connect to a serial terminal for configuration, or serial devices such as touchscreens and barcode scanners.

About KVM Switches-An Essential Server Management Device

A KVM (Keyboard, Video and Mouse) switch is an advanced, hardware-based solution that allows centralized access to multiple computers easily and conveniently from a single keyboard, monitor, and mouse. A KVM switch is useful in an extensive range of environments, suitable for SOHO users, small and medium businesses, and large corporations. Fundamentally, a KVM switch allows server rooms and data centers to optimize rack space in the IT environment, reducing costs and the clutter of keyboards, monitors and mice. Additional benefits include savings in energy consumption, server racks, cabinets, and floor space. Since a KVM switch provides access to a number of computers from a central location, IT professionals are no longer running from one server to the next, thereby streamlining workflow and increasing productivity. To meet the ever-developing needs of the globalized economy and the Internet, KVM solutions now have over-IP functionality for remote management capability that better fulfills the demands of corporations who need to manage multiple server rooms worldwide.
